Waveform generator plays an important role in the electronic test. PCI bus is currently widely used in the PC. Waveform generator based on PCI bus not only can realize the function of outputting waveform, but also has a strong practicality and scalability. According to the actual project, waveform generator based on PCI bus is designed and uses the FPGA as hardware processing core.On the basis of further study on research project needs, DDS principles and PCI bus interface protocol, this paper proposes the general structure of the system. According to the system structure, the paper proposes the design scheme as core of FPGA and PCI9054 chip. The PCI interface circuit is designed with the PCI9054 chip and realizes the connection between the PCI bus and local bus; FPGA and its peripheral circuits are designed with FPGA chip and provide a hardware foundation for the realization of DDS waveform producing module; DAC circuit is designed with the AD9760 chip and implements the waveform data by the analog to digital content; And the power conversion circuit and filter circuit are also designed and provide a hardware platform for system implementation, combined with DAC circuit. Using VHDL language separately writes programs about the accumulators, waveform memory and waveform controller three modules and realizes the function of outputting waveform; The sequential logic control circuit of the PCI9054 local interface is designed with the PCI bus protocol and complete the control about reading and writing data of the local bus; Drivers is designed with the Windriver and realizes the functions of On-off equipment and data transmission by adding and modify the corresponding contents. After the completion of board design, waveform, frequency and amplitude of the system are tested to verify the correctness of the board design and the waveform index is measured by Multimeter and oscilloscope. The results show that the waveform generator can meet the design requirements.
