Abstract

Cross-Cultural Psychology Social Psychology is currently a hot issue. Cross-cultural psychology is an important finding is that the East-West cultural differences lead to self-East and West have different structures. Western society to promote self-independent structure (independent self-construal) formation, while the East Asian community to promote Interdependent Self-structure (interdependent self-construal) formation. Independent self-self and self-discovery concerns the unique intrinsic quality, stressing the independence of self is different from others, emphasizing the separation of self and society. Interdependent Self-emphasis on self-reliance with others, mutual contact, is a self associated with others. Interdependent self-structure and self-aggrandizement quite closely linked. In recent years, overseas expansion theory of self psychology researchers have a lot of research, theory suggests that self-aggrandizement, self-aggrandizement is a core of people's motives, people in order to improve their potential to achieve their goals while others seek to incorporate into the self-structure, which and Asians Interdependent Self structure coincided, emphasis on the relationship between self and others. However, the self-expansion theory researchers in Western culture is to study and make the background, while Western culture is fostered self-independent structure, the ego is separated with others, not associated with others. So why Westerners have motivation to seek self-aggrandizement of others into the self-structure, emphasis on the relationship between self and others do? Present study on this issue was discussed, the main structure of the type of self-motivation for self-aggrandizement the level of impact, and according to findings raise self-aggrandizement why Westerners motivated interpretations. Previous studies have shown that while Westerners showed self-independent structure, Asians showed Interdependent self-structure, however, both East and West are both self-structure, through the experimental operation to temporarily start Orientals independent Self-structure and the type of Westerners Interdependent self-structure. This is why self-aggrandizement Westerners motivation provides a possible explanation for Westerners in the life of many scenarios, starts Interdependent self-structure, resulting in a self-aggrandizing motives. Accordingly, the research hypothesis: People start Interdependent structure will produce self-motivated self-aggrandizement, and start the standalone self-structure, it will not produce self-aggrandizement motivated. If this hypothesis is confirmed, then the above explanation is correct. This study made two experiments. Experiment 1 aimed to investigate whether through induction of experimental manipulations oriental architecture-independent self. Experiment 3 (Startup Type) × 2 (self-described) mixed experimental design, in which the startup type is set to ask variables, including two levels, namely, self-structure-independent startup group, Interdependent self-structure Startup group and the control group ; self-described group variables, including the Independent and Interdependent self-described self-described two levels. The purpose of Experiment 2 investigated under different startup type, whether the level of self-aggrandizement motivation there are significant differences. Research for the single factor experimental design, startup type also includes three levels, namely, self-structure-independent startup group, Interdependent self-structure Startup group and the control group. The dependent variable was self-aggrandizement level of motivation, subjects self-expanding level of motivation to get through the measuring scale. The results of this study partially supported the research hypothesis, based on the experimental results the main conclusions are: (1) China's default self-structure type is Interdependent self-structure. (2) can be induced experimentally manipulated, inspire the Chinese people's self-independent structure. (3) Start the structure of different types of self-expanding self-motivation level will cause different effects. Start Interdependent self-motivated self-expanding structure with higher levels of self-independent structure starting self-aggrandizement lower levels of motivation (4) self-type structure with independent Westerners still have self-aggrandizing motives, the reason may be: Western though mainly out of the stand-alone self-structure, but the structure will Interdependent self-manifested, but not dominant. So Westerners also have self-aggrandizing motives, but with Asians compared to the low level of motivation for self-aggrandizement.
