Abstract

Relative clause (RC) is a subordinate clause, which consists of a relational noun (or noun phrase) and - a finite clauses, whose role is used to modify a noun (or noun phrase). Since the relative clause is a ubiquitous and complex grammatical phenomena. Therefore, more and more attention from scholars at home and abroad, its research within the scope of the phrase and Second Language. Previous studies mainly focused on the acquisition of the child's mother tongue relative clause acquisition and Adult Second Language relative clauses, foreign research results significantly, while domestic research in this area is not yet rich, however, rarely on the English and Chinese A comparative study of the relative clause. Scholars for the study of the relative clause is more biased in favor of select college students as subjects, and in the relative clause learning and the use of the early stages of the middle school students are often ignored. This article focuses on the learning and acquisition of Chinese high school students in English and Chinese relative clauses investigation. Use a test volume of fine design, to investigate the status of Chinese middle school students learning and acquisition of different relative clause. Different tasks showed different sequences, and these sequences with Keenan Comrie (1977), the noun can compare and theory, Chinese middle school students how to reflect the processing of relative clauses in English and Chinese. The two sets of data from two classes of secondary schools, respectively, represent the high and low level of the two languages. The analysis results show that the five tasks showed the availability Sort largely noun Sort consistent.
