Abstract


Chinese national spirit is the inner spiritual power to support the continued progress and development of the Chinese nation, it is also an important symbol of national comprehensive strength. A nation which wants to outstand in the world needs not only a powerful material force, but also a strong national spirit as the inner power. Therefore, cultivating the citizens’national spirit has great significance for the Chinese nation for long-term development. College students, a relatively high level of education group, will assume the important task of national construction and development, and their national mental health has important implications for the nation and the country’s future outlook. College students are with fiery patriotism and strong national consciousness on the whole, but for a variety of factors, some students also appear some problems, such as the confused values, the weak national consciousness and so on, which is worthy of our high attention. This is the important theoretical and practical issues of current ideological and political education for college students to analyze their spirit situation and to propose the appropriate countermeasures.There is in-depth discussion on this topic. This Paper has three parts:In Part 1, it analyzes the main problems of current college students’national spirit. The paper argues that, on the whole, the mainstream of college students’national spirit is positive and healthy: they are full of pride of the history and traditional culture, loving the people, supporting socialist system, advocating the truth, having a sense of innovation. But due to some negative factors, there are also some problems of college students’ national spirit, for example, the weakening of national consciousness and culture sympathy, the flaws in citizen personality of partial college students. In Part 2, it discusses the problem of college students’national spirit. This paper argues that the various problems of college students’national spirit are the result of many factors, the most prominent reasons are as follow:the weakness of national spirit education of college students; the negative impacts of globalization to college students’national spirit; the negative impacts of Popular Culture to college students’ national spirit and the negative effects of the negative factors in social development. In Part 3, the paper proposes the solutions including raising awareness to the importance of education of college students’ national spirit, enriching the cultivated content of college students’ national spirit, innovating cultivated vector of college students’ national spirit, constructing education network of college students’ national spirit, optimizing the educational environment of college students’ national spirit.
