Abstract


E-reader is a new thing which been noticed during these several years. It develops rapidly in both domestic and oversea market. E-reader is not only a machine used to read; its feature is combining with content. In a word, e-reader is a professional electronic production which uses e-paper technology to show e-books, pictures, digital files and so on to readers.After a comprehensive summarization of former research reports, this paper analyzed the present opportunities and threats it faced, and how it affected the digital reading on the basis of the concept of e-book and other relativities with literature investigation method. Then it analyzed the differences between domestic and oversea market, and forecasted the situation in the future. Finally the proper way to develop in domestic market has been mentioned. At the same time, questionnaire was made to research readers’reading behavior and needs. There are total seven chapters in the paper:Chapter 1:Introduction, this chapter provides the background and meaning of this study firstly, and gives a piece of literature summary on e-book and digital reading, and finally the logical and structure of the paper was put forward.Chapter 2:Overview of the concept of e-book and its correlative, and discriminate the confusion concept.Chapter 3:Analyze the development of the digital reading of these years, introduce from digital reading and e-book market respectively.Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 are the main part of the paper. Discuss the connection between the e-reader and digital reading.Chapter 4:Firstly, this chapter introduces the business model and chain of the e-reader both domestic and oversea market. Then it analyzes the e-reader market with SWOT method. And analyzes influence of emergence of e-reader towards digital reading both domestic and oversea market finally.Chapter 5:Analysis of the results of questionnaire. The objective of questionnaire is to research readers’ opinion about e-reader and digital reading, then analyze their behavior and need of reading. Chapter 6:Forecast of development and problems which were likely to take place of future market based on the formal analysis. Then propose some aspects of domestic market.Chapter 7:Summary and outlook. E-reader has not only profound influence on digital reading, but also will become the factor of reading behavior transformation. At present, there are lots of problems, the market standard and law is to be established, for the market is in its forepart of development. In the future, what need to be considered is not only the establishment of the industry standards and rules, but also the need of how develop e-book industry combined the situation of our country, so that can make greater contribution to digital reading for all people.
