Abstract

Objective: Breast cancer is one of the most malignant tumors for woman’s health. With the increase of living levels, the dramatically increasing trend of it’s incidence has been present in China. Breast cancer in youth is common in clinics, which is known as more invaded, more malignant and worse prognostic than in old. Studying focused on the biomarkers on young breast cancer have turned to one of hot spots. As above all, We intend to investigate the relations between the expressions of P53 in young and old breast cancer and clinically pathological features. Methods: Patients’information were collected from Shandong Provin -cial Hospital from April 1 2009 to March 31 2010. The patients were divided into two groups: age≤35, from 23 to 35,median age of 32,average tumor size of 2.33cm for 65 cases young group; age≥60, from 60 to 88, median age of 71 for 81 cases old group as control. The experimenter created a database on the basis of the inclusion criteria and statistics content of clinical data. The comparative analysis has been done between the expressions of P53 detected by immunohistochemistry assay and histopathological grade, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. Results: Immunohistochemistry assay showed that the expressions of P53 in young 70.80%(46/65)were higher significantly than those in old 53.10%(43/81). The significant differences in young and old of breast cancer were observed in histopathological grade and lymph node metast -asis ,and no significances observed in TNM stage. We found that the expressions of P53 in young and old were of significant differences and direct correlations in histopathological grade, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. Conclusions: We demonstrated that the expressions of P53 in young breast cancer have intensively direct correlations in histopathological grade, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. The further detection of P53 status for young breast cancer is essential for knowing about its biology and prognosis.
