Abstract


1978 Seafarers' Training , Certification and Watchkeeping for Standard International Convention on the latest amendments to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2010 by the Manila amendments to the STCW Convention . Manila amendment reflects the latest developments in maritime technology today and the shipping industry , prominent seafarers overall quality of training , and help to promote safety at sea and protection of the marine environment . How to translate the new Manila amendments make it easy compliance become a top priority of the Chinese crew . Paper uses functional translation theory as the guiding theory , the functional translation theorists advocated the global to the local \Briefly introduced the the Manila amendments modify the background, after the main modify the content and language features , the authors in the framework of a functional translation theory , translation principles from the macro level attempts summarizes three easy performance : ( 1) reference other maritime conventions translation ; ( 2) to respect the culture of maritime conventions ; ( 3 ) relying on board specific practice . The authors hope that through the inspiration and help translate the Manila amendments to the STCW Convention , the study concludes that the three principles of the the future other maritime conventions amendment , translation work and its related research .
