Luckily, I visit the Shanghai 2010 World Expo, have watched roof gardens all over the world, enlightened very much. Today, the socity begin to pay more attention to ecology. Our ground space is less and less, while there is much space over the city. If we can develop the construction of urban roof garden, it will be an effective way to increase urban Eco-efficiency, reduce energy consumption, beautify the urban landscape, increase urban living space, and promote social interaction of urban residents. When I do the research in Changzhou, find the urban area is very crowded, green area is declining, and green roofs have been given high priority. Currently, a lot of roof gardens have been built, but there are many problems. Compared with open landscape, people pay more attention to construction, landscape form is not rich enough, regional characteristics is not obvious.Base on the broad development prospects of roof garden, analyze and discuss the less research direction---regional design.First, the thesis generalize the research about the background, purpose and range of roof garden, then describe many benefits to construct it in the city. Analyze the landscape elements of the regional design, put forward the necessity for regional design in Changzhou, also raise we lack experience in it, then, summarize how to design the regional urban roof garden landscape. Finally, I am enlightened by the World Expo and international skyrise greenery conference 2010, propose innovative design base on regional perspective. Contents are as follows:(1)I describe the important regional factors:the natural environment (local plant, material), history and culture, etc, analyze the affects on spatial distribution, environmental essay in the roof gardens.(2)Then, summarize the regional features of Changzhou:natural environment, history and culture, classical gardens, analyze the status of green roofs in Changzhou, raise the necessity for regional design. By a few practical examples, analyze the inadequacies of regional design, also through some successful cases, we can study the design methods, and as a reference for Changzhou.(3) According to the actual situation of Changzhou, propose some innovative ideas for the roof near the Creative Park or some Idle roofs. We can design them with modern technology, ecological means base on the regional feature.Through this research, I hope that I can offer the foundation to creat the special roof garden in Changzhou in the future. The final goal is that more people know the benefits about regional design of roof garden, then they can take part in the practise and design of roof garden.
