Abstract


Index is an important tool in statistics, stochastic methods of statistical indicators index is a relatively new direction, it makes the establishment of statistical indicators can be built from the sample data more fully the information to determine the weights to avoid the subjective effects. The ethnic minority area in China is the most special places with regional characteristics. Design and research the ethnic minority area education index should have a new approach. This paper studies the education situation in ethnic minority areas from 2004 to 2008 with the stochastic index method.In this paper, the education evaluation system model is built up by the traditional method of weighted average statistics index and the method of the factor analysis. We put forward the method of establishing the ethnic minority education index and empirical analysis. The theoretical section includes the basic theory of random indices, the paper’s basic model and its theoretical basis. The empirical section includes the calculation of the education index in ethnic minority areas, the analysis of education circumstances in the ethnic minority area and the relationship between education and economy.This ethnic minority education evaluation system has the following advantages:First, it could unify the dynamic index and the static space index in the same model; Secondly, it could calculate and evaluate the education index in ethnic minority areas which are in the same type and level.Through the analysis of the education index of ethnic minority area we reached the following conclusions:The overall education index of ethnic minority area in China is rising, the education level of ethnic minority area gradually widen the gap in the development. The ethnic minority education index is winding up; Ethnic minority education levels are significantly behind the national average level, and the gap widens; in ethnic minority area, it is low correlation between the economic development level and the education level, with the development of education level goes up, the correlation increased year by year; in minority areas, the correlation between the educational investment and economy is higher than and growth faster than the correlation between the education and economy, indicating that in the ethnic minority area, education role in promoting economic development relies mainly on the educational investment.
