In recent years, computer technology is widely used in mechanical manufacturingindustry,as two important technology of the machinery manufacturing industry ,CAD/CAM technology has become more mature and perfect relatively , in order torealize from the design to the processing of automation and intelligent, as the keytechnology between CAD/CAM, CAPP caused widespread concern. But as part of itscore technology research are difficult, the CAD/CAM not good combination. Thispaper in order to achieve CAPP system generalization, integration, thecommercialization as a target. Try to solve the second input of CAPP technology ofinformation , process knowledge acquisition and expression, and process problems,such as the intelligent decision-making, will feature recognition technology, industryneural network, expert system, database technology applied to CAPP system modules,research and development on self-learning intelligent CAPP system..This paper first analyzes the research status of domestic and international CAPPtechnology and relevant computer aided process planning system developmentbackground, the trend of development situation, and systematically studied theapplication of expert system in CAPP techniques, including its basic ideas and designideas. In order to overcome some of the shortcomings of expert system, this paperdiscusses the artificial neural network with expert system integration advantages andfeasibility.
