Abstract


SANY is a representative model of construction machinery manufacturing enterprises in China. Stared from "Hunan LianYuan Welding Material Factory" in 1989 by Mr. Liang, The sales revenue of SANY has reached 30.3 billion RMB in 2010, ranked firstly in China, and seventh of global construction machinery manufacturer. In July 2011, its market value was up to $ 21.584 billion, becomes the only Chinese machinery? company listed in FT 500.It is the“Rapid Growth”model which brings SANY a competitive edge to support SANY to achieve remarkable achievements in past 20 years. First is the "Big development strategy"– moved to big city Changsha, and entered construction machinery industry. Secondly, taking the advantage of“Fast”and“Scale”, SANY was creating three core competencies: Blue Ocean Strategy, R & D and Services.In 2011, Global macro-economic comes to a crossroad. Further, China construction machinery market is facing liquidity crunch and infrastructure contraction. Through the SWOT analysis of SANY, you can tell that SANY’s advantages are dominant market share and profitable margin; disadvantages are high debt ratio and stress of cash flow; external opportunities lie in China and South American market potential; external risks are mainly from the uncertainty of the economic environment in 2011 and increasingly fierce competition.?Actually the root of SANY’s problem remains in its rapid market expansion strategy suffered a sudden contraction.To find a sustainable growth, SANY need consider future market trends, its own capable and resources, as well as market leaders’experience. SANY need to change it’s growth model from“Fast Growth”to“Stable and Balance”, which would result in sustainable development. The new growth model need to be sustainable and balance: like decreasing the debt ratio and working capital, increasing operation cash flow, implementing flexible plant and Deploying on overseas markets and vertical integration.Finally, SANY is representative of China manufacturing industry. More and more Chinese manufacturers are in the rapidly expanding phase. Sustainable development is an urgent and meaningful topic for China manufacturing industry transform and upgrade.
