Abstract


Recently there are a lot of management theories in the manufacturing field and project management field. It is difficult to identify the most useful and important theories. In order to find the relationship among all kinds of management theories, it is necessary to find a theory to manage the theories.To apply many theories well needs the theories works with others well.Moreover, today’s businesses are competing increasingly. No matter a company wins the advantage in the market-a bigger system, or a company gets more profits from its operation-as a middle system, or a project leader to manage a project within the expected time, the lower cost and a higher quality, or a personal improve her/his skills and achieving the target- as a small system. To manage a system well becomes more and more difficult.TOC (Theory of Constraints) is a set of logistical tools to resolve these problems, to find the primary resource constraint, determine combinations for better resource utilization. It is simple, effective, and can combine with other theories well. It has been applied in a lot of Europe and American companies. More and more Chinese companies apply TOC on their business too.The paper makes a brief introduction on the history and background of TOC, then raises its system, gives the solution of TOC on the project management.The paper also presents 2 cases’ study of the application of the theory of constraints (TOC) in 2 manufacturing companies, shows how to apply TOC to organ the resources to make manufacturing company to achieve a higher performance versus the goal: lower cost, higher efficiency and higher profit.The 5th chapter shows the character of TOC. List the affections after TOC is applied in all kinds of fields, introduce the trend of this theory. Make a summary on the resources of TOC by providing some detailed websites.
