Objective: To investigate suffering rate of insomnia in adult population in Bozhou. To analyze affected factors of insomnia. To determine the correlation of sleep hygiene and insomnia in adult population in Bozhou; Methods: 900 subjects were recruited in the study by multi-stratificatio random sampling from people aged 18 years and older. Athens insomnia scale and sleep hygiene practices scale were used to evaluate the insomnia and related factors of the insomnia . Results:There were 803 peoples finished the investigation. 192 peoples were identified as insomnia. The main performance of insomnia was unsatisfactory on overall quality of sleep, total sleep time less than(<6. 5h/night), time to wake up early than expected. Insomnia. was significantly higher in female compared with male(P<0.05). The rate of insomnia was 37. 3% for military personnel, 30. 4% for freelance and 21. 8% for workers, Pairwise comparisons P>0.05. The correlation analysis between the total score of AIS and problem of sleep hygiene showed that, factors such as prescription sleep medication, go to bed hungry and worry about bedtime or daytime sleep were positively related to the total score of AIS(all P<0.001), nap or snooze was negatively related to the total score of AIS(P<0.001). The another age and another nation has difference of insomnia. Pairwise comparisons P>0. 05; Conclusion: The female, military personnel and freelance happen insomnia easily in Bozhou. Poor sleep hygiene habits of prescription sleep medication, go to bed hungry and worry about bedtime or daytime sleep what induce insomnia. Good sleep hygiene habits of nap or snooze what reduce insomnia.
