Objective: To study the correlation between plasma resistin and age, sex, smoking , height , weight , blood pressure (BP), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hipratio (WHR), fasting blood glucose (FBG), lipid,high-sensitive C reactive protein (hsCRP), white blood cell (WBC) and Gensini scores by detecting plasma resistin levels in healthy people and patients with coronary atherosclerosis disease. To observe the change of plasma resistin levels and coronary lesions. To investigate the different levels of plasma resistin in patients with vascular disease in different. Methods: It is a case-control study. 89 patients with suspected chest pain were enrolled in the study. These patients were divided into normal control group (n=25) and case group (n=64) by coronary angiography. Plasma resistin levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and height, weight, WC, WHR, BP, FBG, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), hsCRP, WBC and Gensini scores were measured in each patient. The differences on each parameter were compared among subgroups and groups. The correlations between resistin and other parameters were investigated by multiple linear stepwise regression analysis. Results: (1) The plasma resistin level in case group (26.68±5.8ug/L) was significantly higher than that in normal control group (19.08±6.12ug/L, P<0.01). (2) In case group, The plasma resistin level of single-vessel disease, double-vessel disease, three-vessel disease were 27.34±6.86ug / L, 25.53±5.04ug / L, 27.64±5.97ug / L. No differences in resistin levels were found in different vascular count(P>0.05). (3) Gensini scores in all patients in order of increasing values were 18.08±6.12ug / L,22.02±3.90ug / L,25.97±4.12ug / L,29.07±6.29ug / L. Age, height, and weight were no significant differences in the 4 group(P>0.05). And plasma levels of resistin increases gradually with increasing Gensini scores. There were statistically significant difference between the groups(P<0.05或P<0.01).(4) The correlation analysis showed significantly positively correlations between plasma resistin and hsCRP, WBC and Gensini scores. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that WBC and Gensini scores were the most significant factors which affect plasma resistin levels. Conclusion: (1) The plasma resistin level with coronary atherosclerosis disease was significantly higher than that in normal control group. (2) Plasma resistin level is closely related with the degree of coronary artery stenosis. The higher plasma resistin levels were, the more severe coronary artery stenosis . (3) There was an independent correlation between the levels of plasma resistin and WBC, Gensini scores. These findings suggested that resistin may be involved in the development of coronary atherosclerosis disease through systemic inflammation.
