The Grid has been widely used as one of the typical city forms in the long history from ancient ages to modern time, not only in Western Europe and North America, but also in Eastern Asia. Besides, with the Global economic integration, the gird from will be used more and more often. Therefore, a reasonable grid form, including roads density, roads widths, and blocks areas and so on, is important for cities’healthy development.First of all, by using the research methods of city morphology, the paper pays attention to the different and special forms in eastern and western cities, points out that the grid form modes are distinct—the western one is called intense block gird mode and the eastern one is called large region and sparse roads gird mode, and compares and analyzes each element of the two modes, such as roads grades, roads widths, road net density, block areas and so on.Secondly, the paper analyzes the direct reason of the two different gird modes in eastern and western countries and the different factors influencing the specific form of the grid mode, such as productivity, traffic tools and architecture types and so on.Thirdly, the paper analyzes the influences of the two gird mode on Chinese modern cities’construction. Then, the paper compares the different results affected by the two modes and finds the intense block grid mode is more reasonable for a city’s development from a long run way. At last, by taking the example of the Center Business District, the paper suggests data of roads and blocks for the physical planning in the future.
