Abstract


TI worm gearing is shortened from toroidal involute worm gearing. There are single enveloping TI worm gearing and double enveloping TI worm gearing according to enveloping times. In single enveloping TI worm gearing, worm wheel is involute helical gear while worm is generated by worm wheel. It is significant to do finite element analysis for TI worm gearing because TI worm gearing will be more efficient through which according to the analysis result. The research contents are as follows:Do some studies on the mathematic model of TI worm gearing and finite element model under the environment of ANSYS. Because the tooth surfaces of TI worm are complex, the dissertation introduces a new method for modeling, which uses the advantages of 3 softwares-Matlab, Pro/E and ANSYS. APDL(Ansys Parameter Design Language)is well used in this method, realizing the parameterized modeling in the process.On the base of finite element model, some analyses of load capacity of TI worm gearing are conducted. According to analyses rule of load capacity, the dissertation focuses on intension analysis of contact and bend. The surface-surface contact analysis relates to friction, original contact state, selection of parameters and so on. The dissertation discusses the steps of surface-surface contact analysis, rule of selecting parameters, mode of meshing and loading. The FEA result indicates that in TI worm gearing, there is appropriate stress distribution on contact surfaces. It can be used under burden so it is a kind of promising gearings. The steps of bend intension include girdding, confine condition, the location of worst load and so on. It also says the bend stress become bigger quickly when the load is changed only. So it is very important to study the bend stress during designing high load gear.Modification theory of helical surface worm is studied and modification method of TI worm gearing is explored. Study modification of TI worm shows the advantages of TI worm.
