Abstract


There is a substantial improvement on the applications of information technologies in Chinese universities in recent years.The institutions have made significant progress in the IT infrastructure construction,IT standards research and development,information resources consolidation,as well as IT usage.However,during this process,unsynchronized information systems and data standards which have been employed by each division of an institution make them become "isolated information islands" which cause serious waste on resources and restrict the effectiveness of management.First,the thesis analyzes the factors to cause the issue of less integrity and unsynchronization in the deployment of the information systems from the external and internal perspectives.Externally,this incident comes from the lack of standard portal and procedure to follow during the development process.Internally,the importance of the applications of IT in the institution is ignored by the users.Then,it deliberates the concept of SOA,the system structure of SOA and the system structure of other information system framework.After the comparison between the different frameworks,a SOA-based system framework is proposed and the deployment steps are discussed.The SOA solution is based on the function of the service component,which is not only maintains cohesive-coupling mechanism but also has significant flexibility in design,development,deployment and implementation phase.Based on the introduction of the modeling,assembling,deployment,and administration steps in the framework,the thesis develops the prototype of the Web-Services based SOA system.In the last,it analyzes the profound influence on the use of SOA system on administration process,project management,and the ration of investment and benefits.In the SOA system structure,the service component is defined by following the standards,is reassembled and reused by meeting the business requirements.All this would substantially impact the administration process re-engineering,IT project management,IT development cost,as well as organizational culture and structure.The empirical cases are demonstrated in the end.
