Objective To investigate the locking plate in elderly patients with unstable intertrochanteric fractures . Method from January 2007 to December 2008 , our department using proximal femoral locking plate for treatment of 28 elderly patients with unstable intertrochanteric fracture after early functional exercise . Results 26 patients were followed up for 6 to 14 months , with an average follow - up of 11.3 months , all fractures healed , an average of 4.5 months , postoperative hip function according to the Harris score an average of 92.1 ± 1.3 points after hip trauma function score (Sanders) rated excellent in 20 cases , good in 6 cases , the non- poor and failed cases , good rate of 92.85% . Conclusion of proximal femoral locking plate with a simple operation , fixation , fewer complications , the good fixation methods for the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric fractures of the elderly .
