As the basic social unit of the city,whether the residential area is harmonious or not,which has a great influence on the society.The residential Landscape impacts people’s psychology,physiology and daily life,and it is also an important part of the cityscape.As the development of the urban level and the construction of urban residential area in our country,the recognition and understanding of the residential landscape is also gradually changing.The residential environment itself can reflect the cultural and local characteristics of urban space,therefore,the residential area not only can provide a good living environment for the people,but also should create an ecological environment filled with characters and benefit according to the local regional characteristic.Yinchuan,located in Northwest China,is the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and has a small population with many national minorities which are mainly Han and Hui race.In the recent years,the construction of the residential areas in Yinchuan is developing rapidly,but there are some prevalent questions in the design of residential Landscape.For example,the geographical features are not prominent,the place is lack of human care,there is no water in most water-landscape,some problems on making green,and so on.For these issues,this paper,which is based on the regional landscape design and combined with the economic and climatic characteristics,the application of plants and the current design for the residential area in the city of Yinchuan,studies the suitable living environment design method for Yinchuan and proposes some design proposal:the design of place should follow the rules of "people-oriented",the forms of water-landscape,green plants should be mainly based on native plants,and so on.This article can provide a reference value on the construction of residential environment of small and medium-sized cities in Yinchuan as well as the northwest regions.
