As a product of the development of society and the process of the urbanization, Archives Building is the result of the human civilization.With the constantly improvement of the society,the contradiction between the requires,which contain both knowledge and services of information,and the Archives Building,which is a cultural institution and a platform of centralized management of the archives and the information of the urban growth,are becoming increasingly conspicuous.An issue between the space of the archives building and socialized service for the archive’s information has to be solved if we want to promoting informatization of the archives building and the management’s efficiency.Only in that way,many impact factors in the progress of archives job can be eliminated from the root,and the functions of archive’s information,which is serving urban and fostering social progress,can be taken. Therefore,in the background of advocating enlarging the functions of the archives building,many archives buildings,especially the small and medium-sized building, have faced development and new challenges.That’s why this thesis has existed.After surveying,researching and anglicizing archives buildings,this thesis’s backbone is developing from three parts:First,from the history of archives buildings,both of foreign countries and our country, we can know the evolution,mission and status in the society of the buildings besides its functions,target clients and space.Secondly,finding and summarizing problems from the current situation of the archives buildings to make sure the means of solutions can be found.Thirdly,anglicizing the archives buildings from overall planning,design of the outer space,functions and exterior shape,we can derive general designing principles and methods of archives buildings on the base of our own thoughts.Finally,analysis the real practices of my own to discuss the way to design archives buildings better in a whole new situation.
