Abstract


Olympics embodies the achievement in human civilization in a certain degree, then what will happen when this attractive event meets old country with a long 5000-year history? In 2008, Great Chinese show up their active concern and endeavor of Olympics and finally present a fantastic performance concentrating the wisdom and ambition. The success of Beijing 2008 Olympics witnesses the great change in this ancient country from extremely poverty and weakness to grand renaissance, and it’s only seen as the episode of the vicissitudes happened to this great nation. Chinese people salute the Olympic with their heartfelt respect and enthusiasm, challenging themselves with the fierce athletics of the humanity. Father of Modern Olympics Coubertin defines the Olympics aiming at and also initialing at Education. Teenagers are now standing on the intersection of centuries and their education would be greatly influenced by the Olympic culture. They will learn how to be an active and dedicative person as well as a peace lover and fair competitor that should keep close eyes on the moving trend of our country and the developing tide of the world. During the Beijing 2008 Olympics, they have learnt the power of their motherland from the worldwide affirm and praise. But their self-discernment and outlook of values are not good or stable enough, which will be affected by the negative factors of the Olympic culture. So that’s the point where value education should concentrate on, and this needs the efforts from the schools, the families, the government and also the media. We can correct the aforesaid bad influence with the positive factors of Olympic culture and help teenagers set up proper and healthy outlook of values which would perfect their life.This thesis is consisted of four parts:PartⅠ: Olympic culture and value education of teenagersFrom the comprehension of Olympic Culture, the relationship between it and the teenagers’ outlook of value, this thesis addresses the origin, range and characteristics of Olympic Culture and analyzes the interaction between this culture and teenagers’ outlook of values.PartⅡ: Positive influence of Olympic Culture on teenagers’ outlook of valuesIt fully describes the positive factors from 4 aspects: Olympic spirit, Olympic concept, Olympic tenet and Olympic aphorism and famous sayings.PartⅢ: Negative influence of Olympic Culture on teenagers’ outlook of valuesThe mania for winning cups and medals, abuse of cordial, the black whistle and soccer fraud, immoral competition, worship of athletic stars and commercial and media hype are all be considered to be the negative factors in teenagers’ education.PartⅣ: Value education for teenagers under the affection of Olympic CultureBased on the analysis in Part II and Part III, this part includes two parts: Firstly, schools should use the positive factors such as nature and harmonious meaning of the Olympic Culture, aesthetic value etc. Just as the saying goes: If one sheep leaps over the ditch, all the rest will follow. Vice versa, teenagers will go to the right side under the right direction. Secondly, we, including the schools, families, government and media, should try best to eliminate the negative affection over them. Of course, teenagers themselves should also make the right judgments and affirm them.
