Abstract


Sending-off Devil Brings Devil is a ancient custom.It originated in the age that the cause plague can’t be explained by physic,in which peoples consider Plague Devil’s rude action as wizard,ghosts’ behavior.And then this custom come out through witchcraft which can send away ghost and Plague Devil who bring disease,it can help get rid of plague.Due to the action of sending-off Plague devil related to the survival of community,so most of them have been held as ceremony of village community."Xisai Sacred Boat Rally" from Huangshi City Hubei Province is a custom activity in Dragon Boat Day aimed to prey blessing and good luck,and sacrifice Quyuan.Since 8th day of the Chinese Luna April they begin to design "Sacred Boat",and the "Sacred Boat" will be sent into river until 18th day of Chinese Luna May,the whole process takes 40 days,which has a profound cultural connotation,so this custom has been ranked as first batch of national intangible cultural heritage.This article is trying to catch the intension and culture value of this custom on the perspective of Folklore and Cultural research,by through study the related ceremony and historic evolution of "Xisai Sacred Boat Rally" and related condition investigation.Moreover,here discuss the special custom-Sending off the Plague Devil by using paper boat,which reflect the local people’s psychology in custom filed.The first chapter-"The origin of Sacred Boat Rally Study",which introduce the writer’s title reason,current study condition of Dragon Boat Festival and straighten out the montanic natural environment and historic source in Xisai Huangshi City Hubei Province where filed works located.The Second Chapter-"Scene Observation of Sacred Boat Rally",it make a detailed description to Sacred Boat Rally from prophase preparation to every ceremony and activity in detail and course.The third chapter-"The interpretation of Sacred Boat Rally related question",it make prediction to the future of Sacred Boat Rally under intangible culture heritage protected language,through explaining the origin of Sacred Boat Rally,function,organization and inherit,and analyze the modern age inherit.The conclusion is to sum up all the chapters,it propose measures to protect and inherit this custom and predict the custom’s continue and transfer in modern times.
