Abstract


For the line of duty in social education, public welfare and ministrant function, Public Library has positive significance in the dissemination of knowledge, a means of enlightening people, improving the quality of the people and creating advanced culture. Under background of advancing society reading in the world wide, Public library’s function will also develop along with the social need. Public Library is not only the literature information organization, but also the literature resources center and the main reading place for promoting the reading. Many organizations and the scholars have conducted the research on the organic connections between public library resources and the reading. Revolving to how to promote the reading, researchers have conducted the positive research and exploration to the existing Public library resources and their use.This research takes the public libraries of Jilin Province as an object, adopting ways of questionnaire investigation and local observation to give a way of systematic and deep investigation of the public libraries’resources and using situation of Jilin Province. Through the analysis of the investigation results,the author summed up some ideas as follows: First, the public libraries are not enough and their distribution disperses. The coverage fraction of public libraries is low. Second, the information resource is not few , but its distribution is imbalanced. The overall quality of information resource is not high and the structure of it is unreasonable. Information resource renew slowly. Third, Library facility resources are obvious insufficient and obsolete . Fourth, Library readers are few and the scope of readers is narrow. The ues factor of library of resources is low. On this basis, the author analyzes the public library resources and the reader demand of Jilin Province. The analysis includes three aspects: the quantity and the distribution of library resources, the quality of library resources and the library service. Then the author draws the conclusion that the quantity, distribution, quality and service of public library resources can not satisfy readers. Finally, this article proposes several suggestions to advance public library resources and their use. The author hopes this investigation and study will provide a reference for the public library resources and thier use from theory and practice.
