The job of pruning is an important step for the upbringing quality industrial timber . Based pruning purpose machine vision recognition system can improve the operating efficiency of the pruning , achieve intelligent and Automation pruning . Trunk diameter measurement is an important part of the visual identity system of pruning . Based tool and a means of measuring trunk diameter camera calibration theory , the use of image processing and neural network technology based the camera calibration stumpage trunk diameter automatic measurement . The method for the purpose of standing tree trunk image processing and feature detection , specific analysis of the camera model and calibration methods , calibration algorithm improved BP neural network to achieve the automatic measurement of the standing tree trunk diameter . The paper 's main conclusions and innovation points are as follows : 1 , in the calibration of the experimental method , draw based on the 2D plane target the underlying camera calibration method experimental design , take camera special position calibration target standard shooting through the special position points directly determine the camera external parameters matrix Compared with traditional methods , this method can effectively overcome the camera distortion model is more convenient and easy to get . 3 , for the the trunk image characteristics , find a standing tree trunk image edge extraction method . First, the threshold segmentation coarse segmentation of grayscale images , and then use the median filter and eliminate outlier two steps of the image most of the noise removal , white spots inside the trunk fusion through expansion and corrosion , and finally Krisch operator closed trunk edge curve . This approach combines the characteristics of the trunk itself , less processing chain to ensure that the original state of the trunk . Monocular visual BP neural network calibration method based on proposed BP neural network tree diameter size measurement method , automatic measurement function of the size of the tree diameter , measure the distance of 0.5m- 1.25m . Experimental results show that the distance measurement accuracy of this method can achieve 0.1mm, the measurement error /- 2.80mm , meet the system's measurement requirements .
