Abstract

The greenhouse effect causes global warming, which leads the impact and damage to the ecological environment. A number of measures have been taken to prevent global warming, including the reduction and limitation emission of CO2. However, restriction emission of carbon dioxide would affect the industrial development, therefore the development of Separation & Recycling technology for CO2 and good Absorption & Desorption Materials can benefit the society and economy. The main objective of this paper is to find a better adsorbent to separate CO2 and N2. Activated Carbon Fibers(ACF), Activated Carbon(AC)and zeolite are selected as the adsorbents in this experiment.Adsorption breakthrough curve、adsorption curve and regeneration breakthrough curve of adsorbents are attained through CO2/N2 adsorption-desorption experiment, which are conducted with three different adsorbents. The absorption separation factor、penetration absorption time and best adsorption-desorption conditions are determined by experimental results. This research demonstrated that ACF (PAN-ACF & VACF)、AC and zeolite are better adsorbents for CO2/N2 and the separation factors of the three adsorbents are 7.4、8.5、4.16 and 10.8 separately. The extra energy is needed for the desorption of AC and zeolite, while saturated VACF is desorption with low voltage current. The advantages of ACF are short cycle and low energy consumption. The desorption time of VACF is 20mins, but the desorption time of AC and zeolite are 4 hours and 6 hours separately. Meanwhile the cycle experiment finds that ACF has better thermal stability and its regeneration efficiency is 86% .Therefore, the adsorption-desorption experiment results show that ACF is the best adsorbents.
