Abstract

With the crisis of global energy and the high prices of oil today, to find new energy sources instead of fossil fuels is a urgent affair. Because of the obvious advantages of hydrogen energy, such as clean, efficient which is gotten the strong support by governments, and together with the confidence of the development of fuel cells for lots of energy corporation, the future of fuel cell market will have a huge room for growth. However, the output voltage of the fuel cell is low and the current is large(the output voltage of single cell is about 0.7V), so it needs to be cascaded by a number of series for application. When a fuel cell stack are cascaded by too many cells to obtain higher output voltage, it will easily make a whole battery stack not work if one cell of the battery stack doesn’t work. In addition, the output voltage of fuel cells is easily changed with the variety of the load. So it need a boost converter that is the large conversion ratio from the input voltage to the output; suitable for wide input voltage; stabile for the output voltage. in order to meet these requirements in practical application. The switches duty cycle of the conventional Boost converter is so large which will bring lots of side-effect when it has high input voltage but low output voltage .And the isolated Boost converter will make the transformer turns ratio smaller when the input voltage is wide, which will make the switches duty cycle variety large and increase the stress of power devices and the current circulation of the circuit. In addition, the Boost converter with coupled inductors will generate the peak voltage , result in a more serious problem of EMI and increase the pulse of inductor current ripple because of the leakage. Therefore a Boost converter with active floating charge landing is proposed for the power system of the fuel cells . This topology not only has high voltage conversion capability and interleaved inductor current, but also low switches stress, low input current ripple and high efficiency. Moreover the current unbalance between inductors in each phase is removed automatically without any current sensing means when the duty cycle of greater than or equal to 0.5.This paper mainly discussed following topics:(1) outlines the development significance and application of fuel cells, analyse its characteristics , and expound the characteristics and the problem To be solved of the DC-DC converter for fuel cell power supply system(2) Three topologies with active floating charge landing are analysied and compared. Then the first topology(AFCL-Boost) is researched.(3) Based on its application and the characteristics of topology, a one–cycle control method with the dual-loop feedback is proposed, and then analyse its working principle .(4) the design of main circuit’s parameters and control circuit of AFCL-Boost are deeply analysed. The steady and dynamic simulation results of actual model by Saber software verify the correctness of theoretical analysis. Last the experimentation of a lower-power circuit of AFCL-Boost verify the correctness of theoretical analysis and simulation.
