Abstract

The coupling beams in reinforced concrete hybrid coupled wall and wall frame are key components to dissipate energy from earthquakes in the system of the shear walls. Related research on the diagonally reinforced coupling beams with small aspect ratio is finished by Chongqing University. The test results indicates that with a shear-compression ratio around 0.3, this kind of coupling beams doesn’t undergo shear failure before reaching a displacement ductility ratio of 4.0 to 5.0, which can satisfy the aseismic performance requirement of hybrid coupled wall structures. In order to conserve resources,China urgently needs to promote application of higher strength steel. However, whether the 500MPa reinforcement has a good behaviour is uncertain because of lack of enough experiment. At the same time, related experimental research on the coupling beams with across inclined reinforcement, which are widely used in many foreign codes, is also insufficient. This paper does comparative experiments on three diagonally reinforced coupling beams with 500MPa bars and two coupling beams with across inclined reinforcement in which HRB335 bars are used. To finish this research, tasks are concentrated on following aspects:①Aseismic performance of the 5 specimens is analyzed.②Besides the difference of main reinforcement, difference in aseismic performance and other performance indexes between diagonally reinforced coupling beams with 500MPa bars and former specimens with 500MPa bars is researched.③Preliminary suggestion on design of small aspect ratio coupling beams with across inclined reinforcement is provided.Experimental research proves that high-strength reinforcement doesn’t affect the aseismic performance of coupling beams and coupling beams with across inclined reinforcement have good aseismic performance.
