Abstract

Long period ground motion has a relatively low peak acceleration held when long . History to long-period ground motion , magnitude , epicenter distance and local site conditions have a major impact on the occurrence of long-period ground motions . This paper concludes that , with deep overlying soil site , its radius of a major earthquake in the geological structure , the possible occurrence of long-period ground motions generate far- field effect of distance . The flexible structure of the long-period ground motions lead to long-span bridges , high-rise building large displacement , high speed and large swings may produce unexpected destroyed or damaged . To study long-period vibration on long-span bridges , a suspension bridge and two cable-stayed bridge , for example , select four ordinary seismic waves , respectively, and two long-period seismic waves from the vertical and horizontal structure of incentives . Nonlinear time history analysis results show that the long-period vibration on long-span bridges . The value of long-span bridges not only the displacement of the beam end displacement and the top of the tower in the role of long-period ground motions may be much larger than the ordinary vibration, The pylon internal forces may be more than ordinary vibration response , especially pylon beams or at the intersection of node locations the especially unfavorable response . Therefore, we believe that long span bridge construction may occur long-period ground motions venue , the seismic design should take full account of the adverse impact of the long-period ground motions . This article further to a cable-stayed bridge , for example , to study the long-span bridges two longitudinal damping measures ( elastic connection devices and viscous dampers ) the effectiveness of the role of long-period ground motions . The results show that , The elastic connecting device not only would not achieve the role of long-period ground motions damping effect may also be counterproductive , increasing the displacements and internal forces of the structure should not be applied in the possible occurrence of long-period ground motions venue on the construction of large -span bridges . The viscous damping vibrations in ordinary places and long-period ground motions have better damping effect .
