The large voids asphalt pavement is the large porosity of the asphalt mixture for the top layer of the pavement structure ( or above layer in the surface layer with the same ) , and following the laying of the drainage layer impermeable layer of dense graded . Rapid discharge of rain water through the drainage function layer and drainage facilities . This type of pavement of rainwater on the surface of the pavement to timely discharge, thereby improving the safety performance of the rainy vehicle traveling . Meanwhile , due to the mixed materials within the multi - gap structure , effectively reduced the road traffic noise . Urban road is an important part of the urban construction , the use of city roads is directly related to the economic development of the city , residents travel convenient degree and urban environment . Thus, the use of asphalt pavement in the city roads to solve urban road drainage problems , noise reduction problems , and improve pavement skid resistance thereby reducing urban traffic accidents rate . Drainage asphalt mixture OGFC (Open-graded friction course) has porosity characteristics , its porosity in the 15% to 25 % , through the big gaps quickly to exclude precipitation in the road surface and reduce road surface water film thickness , so that the wheels have a sufficient contact area with the road surface , thus avoiding high-speed lane fogging phenomenon, and can greatly improve the driving safety . Asphalt pavement in connectivity gap abatement in the dissemination process , so that the traffic noise sound waves can also diffuse reflections of sound waves through the road surface macrotexture significantly reduce traffic noise . Used in urban road the drainage asphalt mixture , may help reduce the traffic noise , rapid drainage , improve vehicle safety .
