Abstract
|
Quinary Zr52.5Cu17.9Ni14.6Al10Ti5 and quaternary Zr65Cu17.5Al7.5Ni10 bulk amorphous alloys were prepared by a Tilt Casting Method using Ladle-Hearth-Type Arc Furnace in this thesis. Iodized zirconium bar and industrial sponge zirconium were employed as raw material to get wedge-like specimens with different oxygen impurity contents. B, Si and Pb as dopant elements were added into the alloy which used industrial sponge zirconium as its raw material. The glass forming ability was investigated, The micro-mechanism of B, Si and Pb microalloying was discussed by means of microstructure analyses. Lead borosilicate was prepared by B2O3, SiO2 and PbO. By Out-spot study, Oxygen-enrichment glassy phase of B, Si and Pb Microalloying’s product was Lead borosilicate or not. It’s shown that the glass forming ability of quinary Zr52.5Cu17.9Ni14.6Al10Ti5 and quaternary Zr65Cu17.5Al7.5Ni10 bulk amorphous alloy were decreased with the increase of oxygen impurity content in the oxygen content region of this experiment. The glass forming ability of the alloys made of sponge zirconium could be greatly improved because of B, Si and Pb microalloying. The effect of B, Si and Pb microalloying was due to the changing of pre-solidified crystalline phases in quinary Zr52.5Cu17.9Ni14.6Al10Ti5 and quaternary Zr65Cu17.5Al7.5Ni10 bulk amorphous alloys. B, Si and Pb microalloying decreased the quantities of Zirconium oxide or Zr-0 clusters in the alloys’ supercooled liquid and prevent the heterogeneous nucleation of Zr2Ni on them. The restraint of Zr2Ni as pre-solidified crystalline phase was of great benefit to the glass forming ability and thermal stability of the alloys with higher oxygen impurity content. By out-spot study, B, Si and Pb microalloying’s production located in Zr-base bulk amorphous alloy as Lead borosilicate.
