Abstract


Les Dialogues des Carmelites(1953-56,opera),is a serious opera created by the French composer,Francis Poulenc.It was known as one of the best in the twenty centuries,obtaining materials from the religious story that contributes the deep cultural connotation to the opera.This article takes Les Dialogues des Carmelites(1953-56,opera) as the research object,using three chapters to analyze it through the special method combining the dramatic analysis and the musical analysis.The first chapter is the brief introduction of Francis Poulenc’s biography and creations.Through the combing of his biography and creations,four factors to affect his creations are summed up and the creation background of Les Dialogues des Carmelites(1953-56,opera) is also researched and analyzed here.The second chapter aims to the libretto.The main research target is the Drama Analysis of Les Dialogues des Carmelites(1953-56,opera).Through the analysis of its theme and conception,dramatic structure,characters,main conflicts and other aspects,t such as the adaption of the religious materials, the open dramatic structure,the realistic personalities,and others.The third chapter analyzes the neoclassic style in the music of Les Dialogues des Carmelites(1953-56,opera).Through the concrete musical analysis,we will find,’the sectional type’ is employed in the musical structure of the opera;The music is integrated closely with the scenario;the conventional rhythms and the voice texture are used concurrently.All of those are reflected on the adhere to the traditional.
