Abstract


The whole paper is made up of two parts: an introduction and the main body.The introduction states the cause of topic choosing and the ways of demonstrating it.As a special cultural phenomenon and an important aspect of social novel, wit-beauty-novel, a fashion during Ming and Qing dynasty, is a school with relatively strong effect. However, novels of this subject are often similar and identical. The reasons leading to the appearance of this phenomenon are manifold. Based on some relative theories, this essay analyses the classification, character, reason and effect of the similar and identical figures in wit-beauty-novels so as to get a systematical, deep and comprehensive cognition of those figures.The thesis is totally divided into four greatly parts.In the first part, the author mainly sorts some theories on similar and identical figures both in the east and west.In the second part, the author summarizes main figures and secondary figures in wit-beauty-novel, according to their different position in the novel. The former contains wit and beauty. The latter contains parents, morally courageous persons and helpers. Then, the author sums up their characters and makes a specific description of it.In the third part, the author analyses the reason leading to the appearance of those similar and identical figures. First of all, the previous generation of literary figures of the type of formation. This mainly shows from two aspects, one is to draw lessons from literary skills in former time and the other is from works of the same subjects. Secondly, Starting from the writer’s own. From the understanding of the writer’s living time and his own character, the author will explain some reason. Thirdly, from the element of market, the author discusses the effect of readers’ consumption and appreciation psychology to the forming of those similar and identical figures.In the last part, the author discusses the effect of those similar and identical figures and makes an appraisal of wit-beauty-novel itself and its effect to literature in latter epoch, positively and negatively.
