Clinical Observation of Effect of Percutaneous Electro-stimulation at Acupoint on Sperm Vitality of Patients with Asthenospermia

Abstract


Purpose: To observe the affection of percutaneous electro-stimulation on sperm vitality(Rank a +Rank b)of patients with simple asthenospermia and differences between different therapeutic frequencies.Method: 83 patients with asthenospermia were randomly divided into 4 groups as 20 for 2 Hz treatment group, 20 for 100 Hz treatment group, 21 for placebo treatment group and 22 for control group. The sperm vitality and biochemical analysis of seminal plasma which included seminal plasma neutralαglucosidase, seminal fructose and seminal plasma zinc before and after a course of treatment were compared between and in the groups. The differences of the variations in sperm vitality of each group before and after the treatment were investigated by statistical method.Rusult: The total curative effect of 2 Hz group was significantly better than the other 3 groups (P <0.05). The rate of Rank b and the sperm vitality were improved obviously (P=0.005, P=0.004, respectively); And No significant changes were found in other groups. In the comparison of biochemical analysis of seminal plasma between the groups before and after the treatment, there were significant improvements in the seminal fructose and seminal plasma zinc of 2 Hz group (P=0.005, P=0.003, respectively) and seminal plasma neutralαglucosidase and seminal plasma zinc of 100 Hz group (P=0.001), and there was also an improvement in seminal plasma neutralαglucosidase of 100 Hz group (P=0.035). No significance was found in the variations of other groups, except the seminal plasma zinc in the control group (P=0.007). According to the relativity analysis, it showed that the rate of Rank a was related to the seminal plasma zinc (P=0.039), the rate of Rank b was related to both the seminal plasma neutralαglucosidase and seminal fructose (P=0.003, P=0.000, respectively), and the sperm vitality was related to the seminal plasma neutralαglucosidase (P=0.004). No more relativity was found in the analysis.Consults: The therapy that percutaneous electro-stimulation at acupoint has a significant effect on male asthenospermia.
