Abstract

Objective:Based on years of exρerience that my tutor has gained in treating trigeminal neuralgia (the type of Fenghuo-stasis) to observe the therapeutic effect of XiFengZhiTong decoction on the patients suffering from trigeminal neuralgia and explore the mechanism,so as to find new ideas and effective prescriptions.Methods:In this thesis, 64 patients of Trigeminal Neuralgia(TN)are divided randomly into treatment group(32 cases)and control group(32 cases).The treatment group are treated with XiFengZhiTong decoction,and the control group are treated with Carbamazepine. Both were treated for 4 weeks, 3 months later makes a follow-up visit.Then being compared with their clinical symptoms and the pain’s frequency,extent and index before treatment, treatment for 2 weeks, for 4 weeks and 3 months after the follow-up.Result: After treatment,the statistic analysis revealed that the treatment group display total effective 90.63%, while the control group display total effective 81.25%.Comparing the two groups, there is no significant difference (P>0.05);While improving clinical symptoms and reducing the extent and frequency of pain,there is a significant difference(P<0.05).And in improving the pain index, the treatment group is also better than the control group(P<0.05). With a follow-up after three months, it is found that the treatment group’s improving all symptoms is better than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: XiFengZhiTong decoction can effectively reduce the pain’s frequency and extent, and can improve the pain’s index and clinical symptoms, and the long-term curative effects is good. Our method is a reliable, valid prescription for trigeminal neuralgia.
