Abstract

Cluster structure router because of its distributed nature , has a strong advantage in the support network port density packet forwarding and control plane computing power and equipment lifecycle , with a very broad space for development . Existing cluster router BGP protocol implementations are still used in the single process or single-threaded mode , there is no real sense software scalability . Therefore, in order to address performance challenges facing the BGP protocol and meet the needs of the next generation Internet , research how to implement the the BGP protocol distributed processing cluster router environment has important practical significance and broad application prospects . In this paper, based on the structure analysis of the open-source routing protocol software Quagga BGPD cluster router architecture based on the distributed computing model involved in the design of the the the distributed BGP protocol model based on cluster structure , in-depth study of the scalability of BGP routers scale distributed routing storage and parallel computing , and BGP sessions migration key issues. This article focuses on the design of internal communication module and routing synchronization module and UDP-based reliable broadcast and unicast communication mechanism to achieve efficient and reliable communication between distributed BGP router entity , to ensure that the distributed BGP global optimal routing to view BGP protocol specification in the forwarding plane and external protocol behavior consistency , and to complete the coding and testing of a the distributed BGP prototype system . The above work in the core router design to achieve higher performance BGP protocol has important reference value, as well as distributed BGP routing protocol in the practical application of commercial high-end cluster router provides detailed reference design and the rich and powerful the test data .
