Abstract


Illustration is a painting,illustration from the English word"illustration", intended as diagrams,illustrations,examples of the mean.Hand-drawn illustrations are a representation of illustration, playing a dominant role at the stage before the invention of printing, especially in the heyday of Tang and Song dynasty. It played a significant role in promoting the prosperity of the culture at that day. Various performance forms of hand-drawn illustrations such as Chinese paintings, prints, paintings, pens and computers, etc., can be used as means of hand-drawn illustrations.Therefore, appropriate forms of performance should be selected based on different subjects. Many artists in China such as Huang Yongyu, Ye Qianyu, and Zhang Ding etc. have contributed great efforts to the development of this field.As the age of "Reading Pictures" coming into being, people’s reading patterns have gradually shifted by the text on the image information acquisition. It fully reflects the change of the fast-paced life of modern society, and the request trying to go for efficient and convenient channels of information. In this situation, traditional books are roughly impacted by the rising of new media such as networking, video. It makes the hand-drawn illustrations which take books as the main carrier also seriously affected, gradually being replaced by digital photos and other electronic media. Together with illustrations of the gradual loss of employees, it has brought enormous challenges for the survival and development of hand-drawn illustrations. At the mean time, behind this challenge, there is also great space for hand-drawn illustrations’development. Development of modern technology make the hand-drawn illustrations have more diversified forms of expression, artists can paint with the mouse or tablet computer. Such unique and efficient way can save the drawer a lot of time for creative work.The gradual application of hand-painted illustrations in the Internet, animation, advertising, wall paintings and other emerging fields also make hand-drawn illustrations have a large space to develop.Hand-drawn illustrations as a unique form of expression of image information, it has a dynamical inspiration than digital photos, it condenses the thoughts, feelings and wisdom of the artists in the creative processes, which also has a high commercial value. The development of hand-drawn illustrations, illustrations look forward to establishing long-term mechanism of potential talents training. Without such mechanism, hand-painted illustrations cannot constantly develop with the times.
