Mr. Jin Shangyi , a distinguished contemporary artist, art educator, is a representative of Chinese art circles , who has made outstanding contributions to the development of Chinese art and culture. The free option of the localization of the oil painting made his art and Chinese painting been closely linked to development of the times. He has been tireless exploring the art of classical European painting so as to dedicate to the noble idea of the essence of its spirit, under the current conditions of contemporary China, to better communicate with the spirit of traditional culture mixture, and to enrich the deep spirit of humanism, as a result, he has created China’s new classical school, expressed pursuit of his ideal personal life. Mr.Jin Shangyi one of the earliest artists, who purified the language of oil painting, meanwhile, he did not forget to trace the origin of time, and strive to understand the nature of European painting thoroughly. In the worldwide influence of“Deconstruction”on oil painting, the“new”and“changing”has become the fashion, and he was in due course“opening up”to choose the return of European“classical”, pursue the classical idea of“simple and uniform,”which is a kind of daring and courage. This thesis will focus on the comprehensive and systematical analysis the language of the oil paintings of Mr.Jin Shangyi in four chapters. First , it is the overview on the cultural background of his oil paintings , then it is followed by the examples of his well-known oil paintings, to discuss the evolution and his artistic style and language features, and the third chapter is about the analysis and study on the aesthetic characteristics of works of his paintings, the fourth chapter is about the objective positioning of his artistic value and cultural significance.
