Abstract

Multi-channel fiber Bragg gratings in the production of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems in a cause of growing concern. Since the sampling fiber Bragg grating in a multi-channel filtering, dispersion compensation and other aspects of behavior is very suitable for ITU standard, so sampling fiber Bragg gratings can be used for the production of multi-channel devices. Bragg gratings can be prepared by sampling the amplitude of the sampled periodic function or functions sampling phase modulates the refractive index of the fiber to get. In this configuration, the comb filter of free spectral range (FSR) depends only on the sampling period fiber gratings P. Recent studies have found that when the fiber grating chirp grating period changes occur, the grating chirp coefficient and the sampling period satisfy certain conditions, giving rise to a fiber grating amplitude Talbot effect, then the free spectral range depends not only on the grating of the cycle, but also decided to change the grating chirp. Amplitude of the sampled grating in Talbot effect in optical fiber design and efficient use of energy provides a great convenience, and promote better understanding of our understanding of the internal structure of the fiber grating. The amplitude sampled FBG refractive index modulation in terms of energy efficiency and the inherent lack of sampling phase grating with its high energy efficiency, a flat reflective optical channel caused by the unique advantages of great interest to researchers. However, sampling in the phase grating in the optical fiber through the phase modulation of the refractive index to achieve the desired multi-channel, the optical designer and experimental production is a more difficult matter. U.S. JER, who first experimentally produced 45 channel, 81-channel fiber grating phase sampling. However, the manufacturing phase grating for sampling, how to use a sampling period with a minimum of phase changes due to the maximum possible number of channels, has been the goal of the designer. This paper studies the phase sampling fiber Bragg grating, the refractive index of the fiber through the sampling phase modulation occurs linearly chirped grating period and found that the phase of the sampling fiber grating Talbot effect. By Talbot effect, to achieve a spectral channel spacing of arbitrary regulation, and broadband domain, channel density, channel isolation good spectral characteristics. Compared to the same uniform phase sampled fiber Bragg grating, can be implemented in at least one sampling period to change the phase change to achieve a number of sampling points reflection peak channel effects, and in the binary phase grating and multi-stage sampling phase sampling fiber grating was confirmed. On this basis, the theoretical research, and further given any form of chirped grating based Talbot effect of the conditions and results of computer simulation are given. Conditions for the Talbot effect, increasing the length of the phase sampled FBG reflectivity and low saturation problem, the paper presents cascaded phase sampled fiber Bragg grating periodic structure, improve energy utilization. These studies for the future design of the sampling phase of high energy efficiency and multi-channel fiber Bragg grating broadband domain WDM provides a good idea, but also for future research provides a good theoretical basis and practical guidance.
