Abstract

Jane Rees hailed as one of the most distinguished novelists of the 20th century. She was born in the Windward Islands of Dominica, belonging to the descendants of British Creole. In her lifetime, she wrote five novels and short story collections. Due to her dual identity and the different life experiences of ordinary people, and her novel is based on self-alienation, identity is lost, and the marginalization of the theme.
