Visibility is an important factor affecting road traffic safety , China 's highway because of bad weather and low visibility caused by the vicious traffic accidents , causing great economic losses . Intelligent Traffic Control System ( ITS ) , visibility become an important monitoring project . The traditional visibility measuring instruments used in device operation is complex , expensive, and has certain limitations ; improved even innovative visibility measurement technology is still a research topic of great significance . This paper presents a road visibility detection system based on a 32-bit floating-point DSP , the real-time detection system based on DSP , CPLD , USB and CCD image sensor processing platform . The platform includes hardware system design and application development aspects. The hardware consists of six modules , power management and monitoring, image acquisition and processing , memory , human-computer interaction and data transfer part . Application for each functional devices the system boots , DSP and FLASH programming . The main work of this paper are as follows: (1) in terms of hardware : the design of the complete system image acquisition and A / D module , DSP chip select and configure the system memory part of the selection and configuration . ( 2) : the development of image preprocessing and visibility calculation algorithm in the software development , the the DSP initialization and boot program design and the FLASH memory to load the program development . This issue is the major outcome of the integration of the digital image processing technology , digital signal processing technology and computer technology , applied to the field of traffic information , traffic information and control subjects with meteorological visibility monitoring technology development closely integrated together .
