Abstract


Microwave filters and millimeter-wave harmonic mixer is widely research and application of passive and active components, its performance directly affects the performance of the RF system . In recent years, the local EBG become one of the hot due to the significant slow-wave effect and the resonant band gap characteristics . In this paper, one-dimensional EBG structure ( EBG ) - compact microstrip resonant cell ( CMRC ) electromagnetic characteristics and circuit model were analyzed , and applied microwave filters and millimeter-wave harmonic mixer , its performance is greatly improved. The main contents are as follows : analysis CMRC EBG structure and slow wave effect, the odd mode equivalent circuit model , and analyzes the impact of the physical parameters of the structure of its frequency characteristics , is the CMRC used in microwave passive and the active circuitry designed to provide a foundation. Design a good performance of the new even-order symmetry Chebyshev filter . The filter in the passband introduces two transmission poles , two transmission zeros are also introduced in the band . With a new filter CMRC instead of the original of lambda / 4 transmission line to serve as admittance converter , does not affect the passband to the way a good performance ( insertion loss to 0.7dB Return Loss 28.8dB ) at the same time to achieve a good resistance with the inhibitory effect . Adjacent sideband and spurious passband respectively, to achieve the 54dB and 40.8dB inhibition , the entire stopband minimum inhibition 21dB ; same time the length of the filter is 26.5% smaller than the original design . This article also the CMRC is applied microwave active circuit design , based on its good performance in harmonic suppression 8mm fourth harmonic mixer , which the CMRC is used to achieve intermediate frequency low-pass filter and harmonic idler recycling reflection function . Test results to the mixer performance greatly improved, the minimum conversion loss of 7.6dB ; RF signal has an effective bandwidth of 30 to 39.4GHz , the IF output signal has a bandwidth of 1.5GHz . The mixer is close to the level of similar foreign literature , better performance in terms of the IF bandwidth .
