Abstract

This paper analyzes the development and current status of international and domestic material classification. Through the method of different material type in SAP, we can manage all the information of enterprise materials and use this to support the goods configuration. The company implement SAP R/3 system based on business situation in that time, so that it’s limited to follow the procedure as the basement of implement. After ten more years business upgrading, system can not fulfil these needs because the limitation is huge and can not support business. The sales department stuff always complain that they need to track material and classification management under new business requirements. Especially the globle system has been upgraded to latest version, there exist gap in function and application intercompany locally and globally. In addition, current staff has less knowledge of material classification management than the staff in SAP initial implement project. Thus, we need to clarify the knowledge in SAP MM module and material classification frontstage configuration to meet the requirements with local company and globle company.For long term continuous development, the company are planning to train the supply chain deparment to relearn the criteria of SAP material setup configuration. Thus, this paper analysis the current procedure to get be ready for the blueprint, and then provide different material configuration process so that we can improve the current situation and enhance our competition ability. This paper mainly shows that:1.Analysis the bottleneck of material management in enterprise supply chain process to point out the benefit of using SAP system to implement material classification.2.Introduce the general concepts and core contents for SAP material management module, and key function of material master data. Then Mainly setting method of different material type in SAP includes ROH, HALB, FERT, HAWA, DIEN and LEIH. The difference criteria setup exists in serveral views, for example, basic data 1, basic data 2, sales, purchasing, MRP, accounting and so on.3.According to the simple process chart for the frontstage user or entry level learner, material master data can be designed and introduced with the indication of tables and views to establish the core process and function for different material setting.4.At last this paper indicate the test of this material management and guarantee the reliability, and make sure it works normally, reduce workloads, shorten supply chain cycle and promote business efficiency in enterprise.After consolidation and standization of material classification and setting, each kind of material can be related to each kind of setting, we can avoid many problems of material management. Conbiming clear material classification and SAP material setting application, we can improve our efficiency to record summary and track materials, more easily and strictly control the material flow to decrease the ratio of embezzlement. In addition, after setting these materials, we can simplize the relative or even same kinds of goods, reduce the variety and specification to fulfil the needs of different products, and then we can save the resource, avoid the waste and improve the profits.
