Abstract

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the cytotoxicity of orthodontic stainless implant anchorage.Good anchorage is the basis of orthodontic treatment, but also the key to ensuring the quality of orthodontic treatment, which is the effect of orthodontic treatment to obtain high-quality guarantee, so the stability of the anchorage is especially important. In the traditional treatment programs, commonly used means of control are extraoral anchorage bow, intermaxillary traction, transverse palatal bar, Nance arch, lips files, tongue arch and so on. Traditional anchorage is difficult to provide absolute anchorage and stability, but also to a large extent dependent on the patient’s cooperation, thus affecting the efficacy. The limitations of these traditional methods, orthodontic practitioners are hoping to adopt the use of implants to get an ideal anchorage. The emergence of growing anchorage of orthodontic doctors to meet the needs of a stable anchorage, while greatly improved some of the difficult cases of the correction effect.Biocompatibility study of biological materials, the main theme is biological material can enter the key to clinical research. Biocompatibility, including two major principles, first, the principle of bio-security, and second, learn the principles of biological functions (or functional role in promoting the body). How to quickly and accurately evaluate the biocompatibility of materials for the study of new materials and shorten the research cycle, plays an important role.MTT assay is a classic evaluation of material cytotoxicity in vitro experimental methods, but also a mature, simple evaluation of material biocompatibility of experimental methods. For a long time, titanium is considered ideal for a highly biocompatible implant material, titanium implants has been widely used in clinic. Medical stainless steel has good corrosion resistance and overall mechanical properties and easy processing, low prices, in the bio-medical materials, is also widely used. With the emergence of stainless steel implants in recent years, an increase of implant optional. But the current titanium alloy and stainless steel implants implant Comparative studies of cell toxicity has not been reported. This study was designed to detect by cell culture cytotoxicity of stainless steel implants, a preliminary assessment of the biocompatibility of stainless steel implants, and titanium alloy implants with clinical common comparison, so as to provide biological basis for clinical application.Experimental methodsSelected human osteoblast-like cell line MG-63 as a cell toxicity test objects, preparation of 8×104 Ge/mL single-cell suspension was inoculated into 96-well plates, the cells adherent after the synchronization for 24 hours, respectively, stainless steel implants, titanium implants and 6.4% phenol extract to replace the original medium, regular medium as a negative control, cultured for 24 hours,48 hours later, using inverted phase contrast microscope observation of cell growth by MTT test was out of cells in culture 24 hours and 48 hours of OD values and the relative value of the rate of cells (RGR), evaluation of the cytotoxicity of stainless steel implants, and with the clinical use of titanium implants often compared.Experimental resultsTitanium implant group OD value higher than that of stainless steel implants group, but no significant difference between the two. Two kinds of exuberant cell growth implant group, morphologically normal cells, the relative value of titanium implant group was higher than that of stainless steel implants group, but both cell toxicity grading were 0.ConclusionThere was no statistical difference between the stainless implant and the Titanium alloy of implant(P>0.05). The stainless implant is in line with the requirement of its clinical application. The results of experiment provide a biological basis of the stainless implant anchorage.
