Abstract


ObjectiveTo investigate the level of quality of life of family members of depression patients and cancer patients, and to find factors related to it. Its effect was evaluated so as to provide evidence for the government to make related policies to improve the quality of life of depression and their family members.MethodsThe study was conducted at the Hospital of China Medicine University,30 depression patients’ and 30 cancer patients’ family members were investigated by WHOQOL-BREF, FBS and basic state questionnaire.Result(1)The score of total quality of life were significantly higher in male than in female in the family members of both depression and cancer patients. (2)The scores of physical, psychologic, social and environment fields were significantly higher in people at the age of below 50 than the people above 50. (3) Age, income, score of HAMD and score of FBSof family members were closely related to the score of quality of life. (4) Family burden from depression patients is serious in entertainments and economic burden, daily activities and family relationships, and the former is the worst.ConclusionFamily burden from depression patients is serious in entertainments and economic burden, daily activities and family relationships. To some extent, it is even worse than that of cancer patients. So depression deserves attention of medical staff.
