Abstract


The development of the atrium has been 2000 years.From ancient residential courtyard space to Portman who created the first truly atrium space, atrium has gone through a long evolution process. The continuous development of the city raises lifestyle constantly changing functions of cities are also constantly evolving. The increasingly development of large building and socialization, public buildings play a crucial role as the core spatial relationship among the major components within the architecture. Atrium space can be used as building evacuation and transport hub space to guide the flow, the construction of the indoor plaza, providing a rest place for the exchange is also a combination of historical buildings such as the protection of sites.Continuous development of urban lifestyle raises the constant changes in the functions of urban development are constantly changing. Urban public space as well as systematic and three-dimensional architecture and huge social construction of the boundaries of urban and more blurred, building space and urban public space permeated each other. Urban public building is always in a certain environment, and connection of Urban public building and environment play important role. Atrium space in public buildings should be designed to fully integrate respect for the original texture, combined with steep urban functions, and the city’s pedestrian system and transport system of organic connection with the transfer, to break the boundaries of cities and buildings to the city public space in the atrium space. Urban design play a key factor to connect the atrium and urban space to creat high-quality urban public space environment
