Abstract

Background Population aging has become a global phenomenon, cognitive dysfunction is harmful to health of the elderly one of the main problems, cognitive dysfunction is the extreme form of dementia, mild cognitive dysfunction is a cross between normal aging between dementia and cognitive impairment in a state, with the biological - psychological - social medical model of personality factors in the development of the disease in the role of increasing attention, study the relationship between personality traits and cognitive cognitive function for achieving loss or even MCI or dementia prevention and early warning has important clinical significance. Purpose 1. Understand the community's elderly demographic differences in personality traits, as well as personality traits and cognitive relationship between the memory hierarchy. (2) investigate the personality characteristics on the impact of MCI and cognitive decline. Subjects and Methods 1. Study nine communities in Taiyuan, the whole group of 2,000 people randomly selected for the survey, ranging in age from 60 years old to 89 years old. 735 were male, mean age 68.10 ± 3.20 years old, female 1136, with an average age of 71.21 ± 3.04 years old. 2 Methodology cognitive function Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-R), Binet intelligence test, the learning ability of the Greek quizzes. Using Cattell 16 Personality Test Personality Questionnaire. Using MMSE, ADL, GDS and other scales selected MCI. According to the U.S. Department of MCI diagnostic criteria in DSM-IV mild neurocognitive impairment study using standard and results of previous studies by our group to develop common modifications. Follow-up four times lower MMSE score equal to or higher than a cognitive decline that the SD group, a total of 283 people; control group from the same community, of similar age (± 1), gender unanimously, 1:4 match. Statistical analysis: EpiData3.0 building a database, SPSS13.0 t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression, Logistic regression into the analysis, survival analysis of the cox regression model ranges than matching Logistic regression analysis. In addition to personality characteristics other than the variable is considered as a multi-factor analysis of covariates. Results sectional study: intelligent sexual and arithmetic; Shiqiang sexual and arithmetic, picture arrangement, nouns immediate memory; perseverance and arithmetic, sensitivity and mapping; fantasy with episodic memory, spatial reasoning; apprehension and nouns immediate memory; Independence and nouns immediate memory; self-discipline and digit span, nouns immediate memory; tension and arithmetic, episodic memory, nouns immediate memory; \digit span of immediate memory related terms were statistically significant (P lt; 0.05). Intelligent nature, Shiqiang, adaptation and anxiety on the arithmetic, introverted and extroverted on digit span, sensitivity to mapping, sex Shiqiang on picture arrangement, excitement, fantasy, tension on episodic memory; Shiqiang sex , independence for nouns immediate memory; fantasy impact on spatial reasoning were statistically significant (P lt; 0.05). Case-control study: MCI risk factors excitability (OR: 1.848,95% CI :1.008-3 .388), experimental (OR: 1.445,95% CI :1.037-2 .013), protective factors intelligent sex (OR: 0.364, 95% CI :0.235-0 .563), immutability (OR: 0.449,95% CI :0.275-0 .732), sensitivity (OR: 0.600,95% CI :0.382-0 .942). Nested case-control study: risk factors for cognitive decline in experimental (OR: 1.917,95% CI :1.066-3 .449). Warmth protective factors (OR: 0.017,95% CI :0.002-0 .189), intelligent character (OR: 0.308,95% CI :0.193-0 .492), immutability (OR: 0.105,95% CI :0.016-0 .707 ), independence (OR: 0.197,95% CI :0.125-0 .313). Conclusions 1. Personality traits behave differently in demography, personality and cognitive processes may exist interactive relationship, which for cognitive research provides new clues. 2 With the biological - psychological - social medical model of development, research MCI recommended to consider personality factors influencing factors conducive to the prevention or warning. 3 in gregarious personality, intelligent, full of ability and insight, perseverance, liberal, independent will slow cognitive decline, and even the prevention of MCI or Alzheimer's work.
