Abstract

Sensation seeking and risk-taking behavior is associated with a high personality. Studies have shown that high sensation seekers have a strong desire. Approach motivation systems and weak inhibition - avoidance system. Therefore, high sensation seeking those who are always potentially threatening experience or activity attracted the same time, they can not be like the others go well suppressed and regulate these activities. Regulation of activities involving behavior monitoring process behavior monitoring process and decision-making behavior change is a prerequisite, including the process of conflict monitoring and error detection process. For sensation seekers conflict monitoring mechanisms, there are no studies abroad; Studies have shown that the level of sensation seeking in error detection are different, but there are still many deficiencies in their research. Use of event-related potentials (event-related potential, ERP) of different tasks and ingredients that can conflict monitoring and error detection on the time course and processing intensity accurate description. In this study, all subjects participated in two tasks are visual flanker task and visual Go / Nogo task, two tasks using the same stimuli. Because sensation seeking and arousal level is closely related to this study in Go / Nogo task set up the task of varying difficulty to control subjects arousal. In the Go / Nogo task, N2 and P3, respectively, two ERP components reflect conflict monitoring and subsequent reaction inhibition. In the flanker task, the error reaction induced ERN and Pe, respectively, reflecting the volatility of error detection and error after adjustment mechanism. Objective: This study used ERPs technology on sensation seeking 'behavior control mechanisms are discussed, and by comparing the level of sensation seeking individuals in conflict monitoring, error detection on the similarities and differences between neural mechanisms, sensation seeking and conflict resolution monitoring, error detection relationship. Methods: sensation seeking scale (SSS-V) in the translated version of the questionnaire, Dalian Medical University students, according to their score to take the extreme high and low groups as experimental subjects, high and low group consisted of 36 subjects (18 high packet) participated in the experiment. SSS-V low group significant difference in scores, gender, age no difference. ERPs recorded using the Go / Nogo task and flanker task. After recording 32 channel EEG offline analysis. Measuring frontal (FZ) Amount Chuo (FCZ) and the central zone (CZ) of N2, P3, ERN and Pe amplitude amplitude and latency. Of which four were tested EEG artifacts due to severe excised data analysis, the level of each group of 16 people included in the final statistics. Behavioral results with the t test comparison group (high group and low group) differences, ERP data using repeated measures multivariate analysis of variance (RMANOVA) were compared between groups. Results: 1, the two groups were tested in two behavioral tasks on the data showed no significant difference. 2, the two groups were tested in the Go / Nogo task N2, P3 amplitude and latency were no significant differences. 3, two groups of subjects' ERN amplitude at FZ, FCZ and CZ points, there were significant differences. Pe amplitude difference between the groups was not significant. ERN and Pe latency between-group differences were not statistically significant. Conclusions: 1, high and low sensation seekers in conflict after conflict monitoring and processing of information is no difference. While there are differences in the error monitor. 2, high sensation seekers error detection capability than low sensation seekers to be weak, the performance of ERN amplitude decreased sensation seeking 'behavior is monitored neural basis. 3, high and low sensation seekers in the monitoring process of the different behavior reflects their defense motivation level or negative results on different learning abilities. Experimental results on the inhibition of sensation seeking traits exist - avoidance systems, and a high sense of adventure seekers in understanding the behavior plays an important role; has great theoretical and practical significance.
