Abstract


For most of companies, due to the difference of each industry and each market, one ERP product can’t be applied for all companies, so it’s possible to provide different kinds of ERP product for certain detailed industries and markets, these products are tailored for the specific and unique requirements. So how to develop these industry and market specific ERP products, and then improve the company’s competition becomes the focus of each ERP providers. As the leader of ERP solution provider, it is necessary for SAP to localize its 28 industry solutions, such as: IS Media, IS Retail and IS Automotive to win more market share. So how to localize them as fast as possible and as low cost as possible with high quality is a new challenge for SAP.This thesis firstly introduces SAP ABAP programming language and its features, also introduces SAP enhancement technology and the new“Enhancement Framework”; secondly, analyze the requirements of local media industry, then design and realize the SAP IS media localization product which is based on the enhancement technology (including the material master data, customer master data enhancement and enhancement framework development for sales order enhancement), after comprehensive testing, all designed functionality and quality reach the expectation.Comparing to the other solutions, the solution in the thesis has below advantages: shorten the development cycle, lower the cost, also reduce the maintenance cost and upgrade expense in the future; certain enhancement solutions can be reusable; Enhancement technology, especially the enhancement framework is first time applied in SAP localization development here.However, this research is only in media industry localization development, considering different industry has its own feature and different requirement for localization, so how to use the suitable enhancement technology and solution, each localization project should be researched further.
