Abstract


Research of naming holds important position in linguistics history of our country. The previous research results have been considerable. However, special research on specific terms of plants is not much in related works, which provides a space on academic research for us.The Bashu local chronicles have recorded the massive plant names and retained valuable data for us. There are two factors which have effect on people’s plant-naming: the first one is the characteristic of plant itself; the other is understanding of the people about the plants’characteristic. So, this article focus on plant-naming in the Bashu culture local chronicles from these two aspects.The article includes introduction, text, and conclusion. Introduction mainly discusses the research actuality of plants-naming and plant terms. Based on this, this part also explains the methods used in this article and feasibility of this article’s study. The text has three chapters, and each chapter is divided into two parts. The first part analyzes several kinds of reasons and basis on plant-naming. Further, this part analyzes analogy, distinction and culture features of reasons and basis. The second chapter explores the phenomenon and reason about the wrong explanation of plants’name. This article thinks that those wrong explanation mainly from people’s perspective and pattern. Next part discusses why different plants share the same name and why the same plant has different names. This article’s study believes that these phenomenas were mainly caused by people’s choice about characteristics of the plant; the change of history as well as grams in historical literatures.The final chapter is a summary on this article’s study made above.The article analyzes 3294 names of plant in all which come from the Bashu culture local chronicles. This article uses such methodes as field survey, material -searching sort-tidying and counting-induction. Also, this article tries best to depict, construe and explain in order to find these names’characteristics.
