The finite element method is particularly suited to solve electromagnetic problems of complex geometry with an inhomogeneous medium . In the field of electromagnetism , the finite element method has been widely used to solve the problem of radiation , scattering , waveguide and resonant cavity . Radiation and scattering analysis of many of the goals of the electromagnetic phenomena are related to infinite region , finite element method needs to be set in place some distance away from the target object absorbing boundary conditions , which naturally increases the amount of computation . The boundary integral method based on the integral equation can directly analyze the target , but the downside is the resulting matrix is a full- array , and therefore subject to the limitations of computer memory , only suitable for analysis of electrically small . In order to avoid these two methods adverse side while retaining its advantages , the development of a hybrid algorithm : finite element - boundary integral hybrid method ( FE- BI ) . The basic principle of this method is the introduction of a fictional border , surrounded by the research objectives fiction within the boundaries of the finite element method to analyze on the boundary with the boundary element . These two regions in the field in the fictional border coupled by the continuity of the field , resulting in an internal boundary field solution coupled equations . The derivation of the finite element basis function based on the tetrahedralization the vector formula , the preparation of the finite element program , and use the program to calculate the field within the waveguide transmission line , the program calculates the results with the numerical results are in good agreement . Derived according to the principle of finite element - boundary integral hybrid method , finite element - boundary integral formula of the hybrid approach , in which the internal area RWG basis function based on the tetrahedralization the vector basis functions , the boundary part of the triangulation . Write a program based on these formulas , the application of the procedure to calculate the three-dimensional electromagnetic scattering problem , the program calculates the results with the traditional method of moments and finite element method calculation results are in good agreement .
